I couldn’t wait to order the SLS4All SLS 3D printer when I first discovered it. I have been working with 3D printing for years with FDM, DLP, and SLA printing but SLS has always been the holy grail for me. I’d been searching for various printers on the market and had decided that unless I designed my own I wouldn’t have an SLS printer anytime soon. All of printers on the market were way out of my price range and aimed toward commercial users I don’t particularly like that business model. When I found the SLS4All printer SLS printing was finally in reach and I immediately was drawn to it for numerous reasons. One of which was the teams opensource approach and goal to make it accessible to more people.
When I finally received the printer kit, I couldn’t wait to assemble it. I timed it so that I could build it during a holiday break for work, and I was able to mostly complete the build during the week I had off, of course there were some follow up things to get it up and running but I was impressed with how quickly such a complex printer came together. The instructions were easy to follow and made the process smooth.
I did run into some issues due to a failed component but this was likely my fault that I broke a wire during my initial assembly, besides that I was able to get my first prints going pretty quickly. At the time I built my printer, the SLS4ALL team was still finetuning and improving the printer software. I found their discord channel and was impressed by how responsive they were to feedback and how actively they were in implementing improvements. Tomas and Pavel were incredibly helpful in troubleshooting, and open to suggestions for possible improvements. We kept in touch during the tuning phase of the printer and I actually feel like I was able to be part of helping improve the printer with my observations and testing.
Today I can say the printer and software just works and produces very strong, detailed, and intricate parts, after following the current tuning steps printing is almost effortless. If you are considering an SLS 3D printer and are somewhat handy I would highly recommend giving the SLS4ALL printer a chance! I’m looking forward to using it to build engineering grade parts for my airplane build and other ongoing projects.
